Wade Mavv here! If this is your first time let me give you a quick run down on KiLR, or Ky - ler as it is properly pronounced. I originally formed the band while in the military way back in 2006 under the band name Two Word Name. We developed a huge following and became the go to band in San Diego for rock shows. In 2008, I had finished my contract with the Navy and the band moved from San Diego to my hometown of Los Angeles. Without name dropping, the band was signed to a production deal with three very famous producers, a platinum selling management team, and was given a once in a life time opportunity to go through artist devlopement. For almost a year, we trained six days a week in a beautiful studio in Malibu in order to become the greatest band in the world. However, 2008 and 2009 were not good years for the record business. Dismal wouldn't even begin to describe the chaos and dispair that was happening with record companies. Even with the big name producers, heavy hitter managers, and a large So Cal following the band wasn't destined for a record deal. Not to be stopped, I self funded everything. I took out obscene amounts of loans and we recorded in major studios, made a kick ass music video, and toured the country, which sometimes even allowed us to open up for acts we idolized. For 5 years we played all over the country and left a trail of havoc behind us. It should be noted that probably around 50 various band members came and went since 2006, so it's never been much of a "band." I don't blame them, the road can be a serious bitch when you're an independent artist. Nowadays we still play shows from time to time, but it's not very often since I'm currently working on my MBA at Pepperdine University and self-producing my tenth and first completely solo album. So thanks for dropping by and please add me on Facebook or head over to the shows page to keep up with any future events
Take care and keep rockin out till the day you die!!
Answer from Wade MaVv:
KiLR (Pronounced Kyler)
I used to intern at a famous studio with Bryan Carlstrom and Dave Jerden, and by intern I mean I bugged the crap out of them until they would record my music.
They came up with the term "KiLR" from an old Beavis and Butthead episode and used to call all of their assistants "KiLR" (or in other words you don't know shit about recording so shut up kid and leave it to the guys with the platinum records). They are the nicest guys on earth and really fun to work with, but if you're a youngster who knows it all (like me), "KiLR" will become your permanent name in the studio.
Bryan Carlstrom's definition: KiLR is a derogatory name for an assistant in a major rock and roll studio.
